Smart Growth America Web Intern
Smart Growth America is looking to hire a full-time paid web intern to aid us in our transition to new customer relationship (CRM) and content management systems (CMS). We are seeking a tech-savvy individual who is passionate or knowledgeable about grassroots online organizing and using innovative technologies to build our movement. DESCRIPTION: We are transitioning to Democracy in Action as a supporter-management tool (CRM) in the short term, and migrating/rebuilding/rethinking our tables-based website into Joomla! over the next 6-12 months. We are looking for a paid intern to focus on the day-to-day work of the transition, which will include migration of data and content, construction of the new site, and oversight of the process. The intern needs to have previous experience setting up a Joomla! website as well as knowledge of HTML and CSS. This will be a short-term project, likely in the range of 8-12 weeks, paying $10 an hour for 40 hours a week of work. REQUIREMENTS: A moderate level of skill in designing and building web applications using open source technologies like Wordpress, Joomla, and Drupal. An interest in contemporary web technologies (like PHP, mySQL, and Apache) and familiarity with emerging Web 2.0 technologies would be a definite plus. Working knowledge of XHTML, XML, RSS, CSS preferred, but not required. Strong familiarity with Joomla! and Democracy in Action preferred.
