Smart Growth America’s Leadership Institute assists state and local leaders seeking to provide their citizens with livable, sustainable, and vital communities.
The Leadership Institute helps local governments develop their own smart growth implementation strategies and provide them with the necessary vocabulary, tools and technical assistance to help move their communities from visions to plans to execution. Working with state and local officials, as well as civic and business leaders, Smart Growth America’s Leadership Institute provides the following types of assistance:
- Presentations and workshops outlining the principles of smart growth and best practices from around the country.
- Training on how to build effective coalitions, encourage public involvement and support, and achieve meaningful change within complex political environments.
- Consultations to help states and communities identify solutions to a vast array of issues – including transportation, housing, and environmental issues.
