Now Hiring: LOCUS Massachusetts State Organizer

LOCUS: Responsible Real Estate Developers and Investors is seeking a talented and motivated individual to organize smart growth real estate developers in Massachusetts.

In 2008, Smart Growth America launched LOCUS, Latin for “place,” a national coalition of real estate developers and investors that promotes market-sensitive, walkable urban, environmentally friendly, economically vibrant and socially inclusive communities. The mission of LOCUS is to demonstrate that the pent-up demand for sustainable, walkable urban development is being hampered by current federal, state and local policies and subsidies and create a national network and voice of real estate developers and investors who advocate for policies to support the development of sustainable, walkable urban development in our towns and cities.

In 2011, LOCUS undertook a major regional organizing effort to expand LOCUS’ membership in order advance smart growth policies at the state and regional levels, including Massachusetts.

The Massachusetts Coordinator will play a key role in building LOCUS’ membership in the Commonwealth; mobilizing members; and engaging in state and local policy debates to support the development of sustainable, walkable places.
