Climate change presents an urgent, existential threat to our communities, and those who are most vulnerable in our society today are disproportionately affected. Smart growth is one of our best strategies for reducing emissions and enhancing preparedness for future climate impacts.

What is climate mitigation and resilience?

How we’re addressing climate change and building resilience with a smart growth approach

Historically underserved communities and communities of color have been at higher risk of climate-related health, safety, and wealth-building issues because of discriminatory planning, land-use, and housing policies. SGA advocates for policies, investments, and strategies to remove or eliminate carbon emissions while taking the needs of communities most severely affected into account.

Our community engagement opportunities provide communities the support they need to advocate for equitable and climate-resilient land use, housing, and infrastructure policies.
