The Complete Streets Consortium Series works with three jurisdictions across the same state to improve inter-agency collaboration, create a peer-learning network, and identify strategies to overcome common barriers to Complete Streets implementation. Last month, we held the first of three workshops in the series in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

During the workshop, we introduced the connections between transportation and land use and described how to effectively communicate the benefits and trade-offs of Complete Streets projects. We also explored strategies for designing comprehensive street networks that serve the many diverse users of the road and discussed the importance of performance measures in evaluating and prioritizing projects. Finally, we took a field trip out to a rural intersection to apply these skills and strategies to an on-the-ground case study.
