A shared movement: Collective insights to advance thriving communities

About the Video

Real change doesn’t happen in isolation. It’s built by people from all backgrounds, generations, and geographies—coming together to demand better and create lasting impact. As we close out the day, join us for an inspiring two-part conversation about what it takes to build a truly inclusive movement for thriving, equitable communities. In this session, Katharine Burgess, Smart Growth America’s Vice President of Land Use and Development, sat down with Grace Gibson-Snyder—a young leader and plaintiff in the historic Held v. State of Montana climate lawsuit—to discuss the power of youth advocacy, finding hope in action, and building bridges across differences. Then, the conversation opened up in an interactive fishbowl discussion moderated by Katharine. Attendees had the chance to hear from fellow attendees on how each of us—in our communities, organizations, and networks—can help grow a movement grounded in equity, connection, and collective power.
