
Director of Community Health
George Leventhal
George L. Leventhal, Ph.D. has worked since December 2018 as Director of Community Health for Kaiser Permanente’s Mid-Atlantic region. In this role, he develops policies for, and provides oversight and support to, a range of activities that address social determinants of health in the region, including: access to health care for the uninsured, affordable housing, homelessness, food security, and behavioral health in schools.
Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, Dr. Leventhal served 16 years on the Montgomery County Council in Maryland. Dr. Leventhal earned his Ph.D. in Public Policy from the University of Maryland. He also holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from the Johns Hopkins University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of California at Berkeley.
